Grand Democratic Alliance
Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA)
The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) is a regional political coalition of seven Sindh-based political parties. It was founded on October 23, 2017, by Sindh-based regional political parties along with some dissident politicians from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The alliance was created to oppose PPP’s government in Sindh, accusing it of political victimization, corruption, and nepotism under the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari.
GDA has been a strong critic of Zardari, alleging that he has usurped the PPP by using the Bhutto family name to gain power while promoting authoritarian and fascist political policies. The alliance actively fights against despotism, theocratic & fascist terrorism, and economic exploitation of smaller provinces, with a special focus on Sindh.

GDA positions itself as a key opposition force in Sindh and aims to play a pivotal role in parliamentary politics, contesting elections and engaging in regional political processes. The alliance also claims that the people of Sindh are dissatisfied with the PPP government.

Why Was GDA Created?
Opposition to PPP – Formed by parties and leaders dissatisfied with PPP’s governance in Sindh. Good Governance Agenda – Aims to end corruption, improve law and order, and bring governance reforms in Sindh.
Unification of Anti-PPP Forces – Various political groups, including nationalist and center-right parties, joined forces to counter PPP. Sindh’s Development & Rights – GDA leaders claim PPP has ignored Sindh’s development, and they want to implement better policies for the province.
Key Leaders of GDA
Pir Pagara – Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and a prominent figure in the alliance.
